Facial Exercises to Tone Up and Relaxing Your Face

Facial exercises have been an increasing craze in some cases because of the damage that old age and stress do to one’s appearance. Many experts argue that these facial exercises are more beneficial than any type of cosmetic surgery or chemical agents that claim to improve the appearance of skin. Since the face is made up of many muscles (55 to be exact), there are many different exercises that can be done to improve the facial contours.

There are four simple workouts that concentrate on working the major parts of the face, which would be the forehead, cheeks, eyes, and jaws. Forehead lifts involve holding down the forehead with the forefingers and pushing the scalp muscles back without the aid of the fingers. For the cheeks, use the fingers to push down the area under the cheekbones, while trying to smile. For eye lifts, use two fingers to hold the outer edges of the eyes and blink hard for a few seconds to apply the resistance. Jaw exercises require the use of one’s tongue. The first step is to try touching one’s nose with their tongue, and holding this position for a few seconds. Afterwards, the corners of the mouth are to be pushed down and held for another few seconds. All these workouts involve using the fingers to anchor down a certain part of the face and act as resistance, while the corresponding facial feature is lifted to apply resistance.

Another way to add muscle tone to the face is with the use of massage. Many spas offer this massage as a type of “star treatment.” Like the previously mentioned exercises, these massages are meant to tone and shape facial muscles. The first part of the massage requires a thorough face cleaning, accompanied with strokes starting from the collar bone and moving towards the chin. Afterwards, the forefingers stroke the areas from the chin to the ears, nose to the temples, and the bridge of the nose to the forehead.

Massage for the eyes would involve gentle patting above, under and on the corners of the eye. The last procedure is done with the back of the hands massaging the area under the chin.
